The seven concert and opera soloists of Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart see themselves first and foremost as explorers. For “Mediterranean Voices”, twelve composers from twelve Mediterranean countries have each written one piece for the singers, which will be performed in a setting by Greek architect Sofia Dona. The juxtaposition of music and architecture becomes the backdrop to explore intercultural representation of identity. Video artist Daniel Kötter, who together with the singers has travelled in the twelve countries, stages a 2-part-video installation to show the composer’s artistic and cultural situation (“12 Composers”) as well as architectonic, social and political views on the Mediterranean (“Catalogue”).
